Counter-welded profiles

When replacing a door gasket, it can happen that the magnet or the flap of the standard profile is on the wrong side for your refrigeration unit. For these situations, DSU supplies counter-welded profiles. The same profiles, but horizontally mirrored, so that the seal is on the correct side again.

Counter-welded profiles are relatively rare, so first check carefully whether you actually need a counter version. In our drawings, the left side is always the outside of the profile: compare this carefully with your existing door gasket before ordering. In doubt? Search by brand and model of your refrigeration unit or compare the profile code with your existing door gasket. Once you have found the correct profile, you can use the configurator to specify both the color and the dimensions to calculate the price directly.

Counter-welded profiles are recognizable by the addition -MC or -AC in the profile name. DSU supplies a selection of profiles standard counter-welded. Other versions are available on request.

How does a counter-welded profile work?

With counter-welding, the profile is horizontally mirrored. For profiles where the magnet is normally on the outside, it will be on the inside with the counter-welded profile. For flat profiles, the flap will face outwards instead of inwards. The shape, dimensions, and material of the profile remain the same as the standard profile. Only the orientation of the magnet or flap is mirrored, so that the profile fits into the door or drawer in reverse.

Please note: a counter-welded profile is rare. Therefore, always carefully check if your profile is actually mirrored before ordering a counter version.

When replacing, always check the old profile code or the exact dimensions, so that the new profile has the same fit and seal. If necessary, use the door gasket dimensions page for this.

Where is a counter-welded profile applied?

Counter-welded profiles are applied to refrigeration and freezing equipment where a standard door gasket does not seal correctly. Examples of applications:

  • Installations where a standard profile must be mounted mirrored due to manufacturer's design choices
  • Older or specific refrigeration equipment for which no standard version is available

The correct profile is determined by the combination of profile shape, dimensions, magnet position, and the way the profile is mounted in the door. Double-check whether it is actually a counter-version.

Find the right counter-welded profile

DSU also supplies a number of profiles as counter variants: for magnet profiles, the magnet is then on the inside, for flat profiles, the flap points outwards instead of inwards. Counter-welded versions can be recognized by:

  • -MC in the profile name: counter-welded version with magnet
  • -AC in the profile name: counter-welded version without magnet

Not every profile is available as a standard counter-welded version. If a profile is not in the assortment, it can often still be produced as counter-welded on request. Please contact us for this. The following profiles are standard available as counter versions:

  • 10-AC (counter variant of 10-A)
  • 18-MC (counter variant of 18-M)
  • 18-RC (counter variant of 18-R)
  • 105-MC (counter variant of 105-M)

How to compare the correct profile

When comparing profiles, pay attention to the width and height of the profile and on which side the magnet is located. In the drawings on the website and in the catalog, the left side is always the outside of the profile once it is incorporated into the door gasket.

Frequently asked questions about counter-welded profiles

Compare the existing profile with the drawing of the standard profile on the website or in the catalog. Is the magnet on the inside instead of the outside, or does the flap point outwards instead of inwards? Then you probably have a counter-welded profile. If you also see the addition -MC or -AC in the profile code, this is confirmed.

The M stands for a version with a magnet, the A for a version without a magnet, the same distinction as with -M and -A in standard profiles.

Then look for a suitable alternative profile with the same working height and an arrow in the same place as the original. View the explanation here. In doubt? Feel free to contact us, and together we will find the right solution.

Counter-welded profiles are used by many different manufacturers of refrigeration equipment. The correct profile depends on the exact dimensions and groove shape of your door or drawer, not just the brand. Therefore, preferably search by brand and model, or measure the existing profile and compare it with our drawings.

For counter profiles, there is only one way: you measure the outer dimensions of the door gasket.

At DSU, we have over 900 brands; unfortunately, there are multiple type numbers, and new models are continuously entering the market. When the type numbers are known, they are listed on the brand page. If the type number is not known to us, that is not a problem. We produce everything to measure. Determine the correct profile and size and use the configurator tool to create the order. Optionally, add the brand and type number to the reference so that we can complete our information further.
