Door gaskets last longer with correct maintenance and proper installation. DSU therefore not only supplies various profiles, but also the cleaning agents, adhesives, and tools that go with them. From a water-based cleaning agent and disinfectant to rubber glue, silicone glue, and superglue for repairs and tools like a miter shear to cut the correct angle yourself when gluing a corner on a rubber or silicone profile.
Need help choosing the right agent or tool?
Are you unsure which cleaning agent, glue, or tool you need? Use rubber glue for bonding rubber profiles, silicone glue for silicone profiles, and superglue for small repairs to PVC and TPE profiles. Can't figure it out? Feel free to contact us. We'll help you think it through.
Maintenance and installation of door gaskets
A door gasket lasts longer with correct maintenance. Use a water-based agent for cleaning. Aggressive cleaning agents can cause the material to harden and crack, which is irreparable.
During installation, first place the corners of the door gasket and only then the long and short sides. This prevents the door gasket from stretching during installation. The integrated magnetic strips do not immediately have their full strength after installation. It takes several weeks for the magnet to develop maximum attraction.
If a small hole appears in the corner during installation, it can be repaired with superglue. Cracks that have arisen due to wear, i.e., not during installation, are irreparable. If the door does not close properly after installation, check whether:
- You have ordered the correct profile type and dimensions
The door or lid is warped or crooked - A counter-magnet is present in the cabinet edge
- The seal is pinching on the hinge side

Sample case and other information material
We have developed our sample case so that you can quickly and easily determine the required door gasket profile. The sample case contains more than 100 commonly used door gasket profiles and is particularly useful when looking for an alternative profile: you can immediately test whether the alternative fits well and seals the gap between the door and the cabinet. Refrigeration companies can request the catalog and poster free of charge and receive the case for free with their first order. Do you want multiple cases? Then you pay a contribution to the production costs.
Frequently asked questions about cleaning, glue, and tools
Always a water-based cleaning agent. Aggressive agents can irreparably damage the material.
For a small hole in a PVC profile, you can use superglue. However, it is not possible to fully glue loose pieces of PVC profile together; for this, a profile with vulcanization or a new profile is the better solution.
Rubber glue is the recommended choice for bonding the corners of rubber profiles ordered by the meter. For repairing, for example, a torn corner during installation, our special superglue is suitable.
For silicone profiles, do not use rubber glue, but a special silicone glue (Elastosil® E-41). This is resistant to high temperatures (-100°C to approx. +280°C) and suitable for bonding silicone parts, such as in oven equipment. Once cured (after 24 hours), the bond is virtually impossible to break.
First, check whether the correct profile type and dimensions have been ordered. If this doesn't work, the door or lid may be warped or crooked, there may be no counter-magnet present, or the seal may be pinching on the hinge side.
