Soft PVC profile (-MS)
Profiles with -MS in their naming are made based on a special material combination, technically called a compound. This compound was developed several years ago by mixing PVC with a small amount of rubber. Advantages compared to regular PVC:
- Less susceptible to drying out and/or degradation by fats
- Temperature range from -20°C to 40°C
For these reasons, DSU recommends this type of seal for use in blast chillers, shock freezers, cold room doors, and refrigeration units with high intensity use.
TPE profiles (-ME)
Profiles with -ME in their naming are available in the same shape as regular PVC profiles, but made from a different material type: elastoplastic synthetic material, or Thermo Plastic Elastomer (TPE). The E in -ME stands for Extended life and refers to the longer lifespan of this material. Advantages compared to regular PVC:
- Less susceptible to drying out and/or degradation by fats
- Less susceptible to aggressive cleaning agents, including disinfectants
- Temperature range from -40°C to +130°C
Therefore, we recommend TPE seals for doors and drawers that are used intensively. They are also suitable for Ultra Low Temperature freezers, blast chillers, shock freezers, heated cabinets, and professional kitchens where cleaning and disinfecting agents are used intensively. Comparing and measuring profiles
DSU supplies profiles in various designs and dimensions. The correct choice depends on the shape of the profile and the way the gasket is mounted in the door. When comparing, pay attention to the profile height, profile width, mounting method, position of the impression arrow, and the connection to the existing door gasket. In the drawings on the website and in the catalog, the left side is always the outside of the profile once it is incorporated into the door gasket.

An -MS profile is a good choice when a door gasket is subjected to heavier-than-average loads. For example, consider doors that are frequently opened and closed or applications with lower temperatures, such as blast chillers, shock freezers, and cold room doors. Due to its special material composition, an -MS profile is less susceptible to drying out and degradation by fats than regular PVC.
An -ME profile is the right choice when a door gasket is exposed to extreme temperatures or intensive use of cleaning and disinfecting agents. Due to its TPE-based composition, this profile is less susceptible to drying out, degradation by fats, and aggressive cleaning agents than regular PVC.
