DSU has successfully registered for a UK VAT number. This allows us to collect 20% UK VAT on our invoice and pay it directly to HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC).
This method will mean that UPS do not have to advance VAT when your deliveries go through customs and reclaim the VAT from the recipient upon or after delivery.
The “Disbursement Fee” that UPS charges on the recipient's side will also lapse, meaning there will no longer be an invoice for the VAT from UPS, as this has already been paid by DSU. As a result, the packages will also go through customs faster.
In order to comply with the rules for this, we have added a number of things that are relevant to HMRC on the invoice:
- Our UK VAT number: GB 414 1967
- VAT amount in GBP
- Monthly exchange rate that HMRC applies
Future invoices will be sent with 20% UK VAT in effect from January 1st 2023.
As before, you must pay the total amount in Euros.
